Saw Lemony Snicket's: A Series of Unfortunate Events Friday night and can I just say how much I love that movie? Now, I don't want any ranting here about how the books were better, etc, etc. I've not read the books yet, though I will now. The movie, however, taken in and of itself I found to be absolutely wonderful with a great dry wit, lovely satirical angle, and brillian art direction, not to mention all of the great performances. Not just Jim Carrey, though he was wonderful. I was really impressed by everyone involved.

Violet, Sunny, and Klaus Baudelaire. For this piece, I wanted to go with a style that reflected more the feel of the film, so I played around with my pens and came up with this. Kind of an eclectic mix of Edward Gorey and Jhonen Vasquez.

Medium: Inking done with Copic Multiliner 0.5 & brush pens and Micron 0.005, Painting done in Painter 8

Since this art is based off the designs for the movie, not the original books, I am going to say the copyright credit goes to Paramount and Nickelodeon Movies, though the characters themselves belong to the original author.

*Important Edit if you are Going to Comment* : Saying you dislike the movie or the books, etc, etc is not a constructive comment. If you want to say something about the art, too, it's still not exactly polite, but it is certainly your right to do so. If you have nothing to say about the art work, please, do not comment. Thank you much :)

I want to go and see this! I love the books and being a movie buff I'm sure I'll love the movie too. No ranting from me. I don't tend to do that unless they really messed it up. But anyway. I love this pic! It's playful but dark, and that suits the story really well.

I believe in the power of the mind, and that whether our lives "suck" or not is mostly a decision. I'm bored when I let myself get bored, depressed when I let myself get depressed, angry when I let myself get angry, and all of these when I'm selfish.

I hear the movie is twisted but VERY good. I like the look of it, and Jim Carey's in it. So it is gotta be good. :) Anything Carey's in I like for most of the part. (Even the movies critics took a dump on like 'The Grinch' or 'Bruce almighty'; he was great in those. :)) I love the dark Tim Burton feel you gave this pic. :) Those twisted vine like structures behind the kids; so dark yet inviting in a way. =-p All done in copics too? How impressive. :) The colors look so computer-like; such is the nature of the copic. :) Well chosen.
