...there was Delight.

For for winning the contest I offered here: [link] Her request was my interpretation of Delight of the Endless (Sandman comics) before she became Delirium. Actually, I only promised a sketch ( [link] ), but the idea captured my imagination so completely, I had to finish it out. They only showed her in the comics two or three times in that state and never with the same look, so it gave me a good deal of freedom to play around.

I think an embodyment of Delight by necessity implies innocence. There are other words to describe enjoyment and happiness, but I think true and pure delight is something only experienced through the innocence of a child (which could explain why she became Delirium later). I kept the butterfly theme that I seem to remember being mentioned because I feel that it perfectly embodies the fliting nature of her personality (or at least, how I see it). Also, if you know Delirium, you know she has two different colored eyes. I don't remember how they approached it officially (I can't find my copy of Endless Nights right now and it's the only time you get more than a glimpse), but I made both her eyes the same color here. I would think that her different eyes are an outward symbol of her imbalance and her ability to see things others (even Destiny) can't.

But that's enough of me talking. My impression of Delight, that's all :aww:

Medium: ColErase lines, painting done in Photoshop and Painter 8.

The character of Delight/Delirium is copyright Neil Gaimen and DC/Vertigo comics

I'm not familiar with the character, but she looks so innocent and childlike, and the butterflies are so gorgeous and colorful.. I just have to fave this.

I do so love the butterflies and her floaty hair. Along with her pose and expression, the whole image really seems to radiate beauty, fragility, and gentility.
Beautiful work!

This is absolutely wonderful. Do you have any plans to sketch the rest of the Endless? I'd love to see your interpretations.

I have a couple Death's in my gallery already. Beyond that, I don't have specific plans, I just work as time and inspiration allows ;)
