Ok, so it's not that huge of a deal, but I've had a rough version of this in my sketchbook for about 3-4 months or so now, so I figured it was a good chance to finish it out
I had been toying with doing something along the lines of the old melodrama theater posters when the title hit me and from there, everything else just fell right into place. There's a couple of Burton/Elfman related jokes hidden in there. A couple are obvious, but one is more subtle and I'm curious to see who catches it.
(and yes, for those of you paying attention, that would be a live bride there )
Media: Drawn lines done with Col-erase brown on vellum, background scanned papyrus, text done in Photoshop, painting done in Painter.
Corpse Bride and its characters copyright Tim Burton and Warner Bros

How much does it cost to see mr. Bonejangles perform?
"You don't need much, or so I'm told,
but the family jewels, and a satchle of gold!"
Where and when does he perform?
"Next to the graveyard by an old oak tree,
on a dark, foggy night at a quarter two three!"
What a great movie! Great rendition of Mr. Bojangles
I think I caught the obscure reference. "Leave your body and soul at the door" was some of the lyrics to Dead Man's Party by Oingo Boingo (Elfman's Band). Was that the obscure of the obvious one?
Anyway I really like how you layed out the poster, with Elfmans' character at the top framing everything. He was very definately my favorite character.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant.
