"Give it up, Henderson," a young soldier with sandy brown hair shook his head as his compatriot continued to poke his head into the empty cupboards of the evacuated buildings.

"Come on, just a few more," the other called back.  "They can't have taken everything with them.  There's bound to be some food or a bottle around here someplace."

"There probably is," Edwards shot back with a deep sigh, "but it's getting dark and we need to get back to the regiment before the sergeant has us swinging KP duty for the rest of our tour."

"Alright, alright," Henderson shrugged reluctantly as he closed yet another empty cabinet.  "Just one more house."

I finally get to comment on this! :D It's beautiful, the colours and everything! I love this retro stuff you do. ^_^ (I grew up during the sixties, so this is so refreshing for me. :) )

lol, very cool. My mom laughs at my retro fixaion (good naturedly, of course) but she'll say things like, "That looks like something my mother would have worn." ;)
