Been a long time coming, but here it is finally, the forth of the Retro Girl color series. I actually started over a month ago, but whith everything going on, wasn't able to finish until tonight.
As for the theme, putting glamourous women on calendars is not purely a western thing. From the 1920's to about the 1940's in China, what are most commonly referred to as the Shanghai Posters were being produced. These were 'glamour' portraits done for calendars and advertisements distributed by companies. If you'd like to find out more, I looked around for a reference on the web and this site [link] has a pretty good explanation and while the gallery link appears to be broken, there's some examples in the 'for sale' section. At any rate, this is my nod to that art movement. Medium: Original sketch vectored over in Illustrator (yup, that includes all those little lines, too. All vectored shapes) Brush texture/grain done with a custom brush in Photoshop. Other colors in the series so far: Red: [link] Orange: [link] Blue: [link] Purple: [link] Silver: [link] Black: [link] |
