Well, it's that time of year again. What time you ask? Time for my annual Mardi Gras piece. This year, Mardi Gras falls on February 8th, but the parade season has been going on since January 6th.
Last year, I went for more of a vintage look: [link]
and this year, I went for a vintage look as well, just a different vintage
Mardi Gras is one of my favorite holidays. It's like Halloween with the artists, community spirit, and funding to back it up
We went to New Orleans when I was 13 and I think we made it through just about every Mardi Gras museum we could find. I still remember all of the detail in the floats and costumes. One of these days, I will make it back to New Orleans during the carnivale season to see it in action.
For those who haven't a clue what Mardi Gras is or would just like a little more info on it, I came across this site that at a quick browse, seems rather informative and wholesome enough: [link]
Mind you, I am not affiliated with this site in any way and am not responsible for any content that might be there that I missed, but as I said, it looks to be fine.
The colors of Mardi Gras are Purple (representing Justice) Green (representing Faith) and Gold (representing Power).
Medium: Original sketch drawn over in Photoshop with the pen tool, not vectors since the lines and shapes rasterize. It is similar process, but by devart definitions, anything that rasterizes is not vector art. Details added with brush tool.
