Time to jump in the wayback machine, here
Originally I did this piece about 2 years ago [link]
, but it never looked exactly like how I had intended it. It wasn't until I started using Painter nearly a year later that I figured out the reason why. I had been using the wrong program to get the look I wanted
I decided to redo it when I had some time, but time is one of those rare commodities we never have as much as we'd like to make use of. In any case, I've just about got everything together for my finals and ahead of schedule, so while I was looking to take a break, I figured it was about time I got to this before winter was gone for another year
As for the piece itself, I absolutely adore the Kodama from Princess Mononoke
and they kind of look like little snowmen even if they are forest spirits. Then of course, when you need coal for eyes and a mouth, who better to get it from than a few helpful soot sprites?
The name 'Snodama' was coined by =webmyrcury
when she first saw the original image and I still think it fits very nicely.
Medium: ColErase brown lineart, painting done in Painter 8, borer and text added in Photoshop.
