Please Remember Spoiler Warnings If Replying For The Courtesy Of Others. Thanks!Ugh. I know, I know, I've ranted on it before but seriously? It's that hard to sit through a 2 hour movie without talking, texting, turning off your blinking Bluetooth (that was a new one for me), kicking seats, and/or otherwise being a general nuisance to the other people around you? Really? 2 hours? Sigh, kindof a sad commentary on modern society, but there it is...
That aside, I have now seen Iron Man, Indy, and Speed Racer. All three worth the trip to the theater, but I think Speed Racer had to be my favorite. Really stylish, took a definite point of view artistically, exposition and action really well balanced, and delivered on exactly what it promised: a live action anime. Iron Man was great, too. I like a lot of the approach they took and well, Robert Downey Jr. is fabulous in pretty much everything.
Indy, I know a lot of people are whining and moaning about it (at least my friends are) but again, what was everyone expecting? Personally, I wasn't expecting another Last Crusade and it wasn't as bad as Temple for me, so I'm content, not wowed, but content.

For the naysayers, yes, Harrison's acting did not seem so much up to par, but I can write that off to the fact he is playing a character that is a lot older. The whole thing with the fridge...eh, that starts to fall into the relm of yeah....I don't think so for a couple reasons. Then there come the aliens into it....I get it, I know the reasoning, the whys and the wherefores...but still, there was something out of place about it and just didn't feel...Indy. Like I said, I get it, I just would have preferred something else. But comeon, that motorcycle chase through the school was pretty cool, right? Right?

*End Spoiler*All that said, Shia was awesome, so worth seeing for him alone if nothing else. Seriously, ~
Jasmeralda called that one years ago. She caught him on that Disney Channel show he was on, Even Stevens and told me I needed to see this kid because he was going to be big if he ever got into film. Point her cause she was so right.
Other than that, finally got to read Who Censored Roger Rabbit after years of wanting to. I had read the sequel, Who Plugged Roger Rabbit back in high school and really enjoyed the writing style, but I had forgotten how much. Now I'm going to have to find what I did with that book to read it again. At the recommendation of a couple people around here, I picked up Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaimen and after only about 40 pages, already really enjoying it.
Oh, and in other good news (I hope) One of my fav mangas, Petshop of Horrors has started up again with a new series, Tokyo Petshop of Horrors. So far, not quite as clever as the original, but I'm willing to give it time to find its groove again

In any case, I think that's it for now. Still going to life drawing when I have time and taking a digital painting class after work to learn some different techniques, so I may get around to posting some of that eventually.
Might have some news about Anime Expo, stay tuned for that, and for those in the states, have a nice holiday tomorrow
